The Director of Revenue Management, Managed Hotels will be responsible for supporting all aspects of the Revenue Management function for a portfolio of WHG Managed hotels.  This position will primarily provide direction, leadership, and expert level revenue management skills for the development, implementation and assessment of revenue strategies for a portfolio of Managed properties.  This will be accomplished both by directly leading a team of centralized revenue management team members and by indirectly leading a group of property-level Directors of Revenue Management.
 
The candidate will oversee and interact with direct reports, property leaders, on-site revenue management associates, WHG regional teams, and WHG leaders in the Managed organization to influence all facets of competitive assessment, pricing, demand analysis, yield management, market segmentation, business mix optimization, selling strategies and tactics in line with established brand practices and standard operating procedures to maximize revenue and profit streams, and enhance the long term financial performance of these hotels.
 
This leader will collaboratively develop and review property specific strategies and tactics for an assigned portfolio of hotels to maximize revenues by interacting with hotel specific revenue management teams. Success will be determined by the delivery of specific key performance indicators; room revenue, and market share targets including the implementation of RM tools, processes, system optimization and reporting to maximize RevPAR index.  They will also liaise internally with key functions of Wyndham Hotel Group, notably Operations, Finance, Global Sales, Regional Field Sales, Distribution, and Ecommerce to ensure a cohesive approach.
 
The candidate will work closely with the Regional Vice President of Operations in due diligence assignments resulting in the creation and coordination of Pro Formas and Pre-Opening Budgets. This position will provide insight and guidance in those new markets through conducting in-depth analysis to ensure reporting out is as accurate as possible. 

 

Responsibilities

 

Revenue Strategy
 
Working with direct reports and on-property RM associates, guide and validate revenue strategy for a portfolio of hotels, ensure plans are executed to maximize the highest level of financial performance for the properties.  Validate weekly and monthly forecasts to ensure accuracy is top of mind.  Lead the annual budget process for portfolio of hotels.  Validate variable rate structure, effective pricing by season and/or tiers according to demand.  Utilize STR comp set analysis, channel/market segment/rate code analysis to optimize performance.  Work with WHG’s sales organizations (GSO, Field, and Hotel) to validate hotel level pricing for groups, accounts, partners, and provide guidance through the RFP process.

 

Staffing, Training, & Development

 

Provide leadership in hiring the right talent in both Corporate and On-property positions, ensure RM team members have, and are using, the right and most up-to-date tools, systems, and reporting.  Lead the new hire on-boarding process, work with leadership to plan for staffing changes with hotels coming into/leaving the managed organization.  Lead training sessions as necessary.  Ensure team members complete necessary training.  Evaluate the skill sets of team members and provide input to Managed Leaders and General Managers for ongoing reviews of team member performance.

 

Projects

 

Participate as the subject matter expert in, lead, and represent revenue management in various ad-hoc and assigned projects.  This includes on-boarding of new hotels into the managed organization, due diligence analysis for potential hotels into the managed organization, various systems projects where a RM subject matter expert is needed, and other projects as assigned. 

 

Portfolio Relationship Management

 

Act as the key point of contact for the region for all matters in relation to Revenue Management.  Forge and maintain positive professional relationships with hotel owners, WHG Managed leaders and teams to deliver a robust and financially valuable revenue strategy.  Actions, presence, commercial sense and Count on Me approach will position them as a positive ambassador for WHG and an invaluable advisor to the region.  They will also work with the Regional Vice President of Operations and Regional Director of Marketing to ensure best practices, utilization and application of WHG revenue systems and practices are carried out at all properties within the region and affected portfolios.

 

Qualifications
Experience/Education
 
  • Bachelor's degree in Hotel Management, Business, Economics, Statistics, Finance, or a relevant field of study, required
  • MBA in Business, Hotel Management, Economics, or related field a plus
  • 5 + years of progressive work-related experience in hotel revenue management, finance, operations, or sales
  • Demonstrated success and proficiency in hotel revenue management concepts and systems, distribution channels, market segmentation, pricing, Hotel PMS / CRS, Microsoft Office applications
  • People management experience a plus
  • Must be able to travel throughout the U.S. 30%
